I thought that before Jack and I leave for the Pacific Northwest - we must pay homage to the genius that is custard ice cream in the midwest. But not just any custard ice cream... Shake's Custard Ice Cream - with select locations in the midwest & the South. We're so lucky they have one in Pittsburg.
For someone who doesn't have a sweet tooth, like me, I can go there every night and have it for dessert ( and I don't get sweetened out). For someone who does have a sweet tooth, like Jack, he can have ice cream at home that we bought from the groceries...and still go out an hour later and get a cone of chocolate custard-which he did this week. I don't know where he puts it all (I think he eats and I gain the weight).
Anyhoo, I have an "off-menu" order that I always do. Jack gets kinda embarrassed when he has to say it to the server.
Junior Vanilla Cone - upside down in a cup - with bananas & strawberries. If it gets messed up, I'm devastated.
Oooh & Shake's is awesome because they have free baby cones - but baby has to be present. And I heard they have free cones for pets!
