ted and hilary arrived last thursday and it was one of the best weekends jack and i spent out here in the nw thus far. there was a lot of laughter and adventure ---which often comes with friends for life. that's who ted & hilary are. they are one of our favorite people and really happy that they took time off their busy schedule to come out here to visit us. we *heart* them.
we're already planning our next vacation. hilary's idea was we see each other, at least, every six months. here. here.
so our long weekend went like this:
thursday: picked up ted & hilary at the airport. went to pike's market and had crepes de france then immediately bought two dozen donut holes (cinnamon & powdered, thank you very much). then shopping at nordstrom rack; seattle center. then shopping at rei. then dinner at alki beach's cactus - where good mojitos dwell.
* off the beaten path: walking back to our car from pikes, we happened upon a street fight. yup. complete with knives and bricks. i don't think hilary & ted knew it was on the itinerary.
returning back to our apartment, we celebrated ted's birthday (may 12) with four cupcakes from seattle's the erotic bakery - that hilary painstakingly ordered. they were cute & rated X. pictures are in the album but if you want to see the ummm videos...email me and i will send you the link (it's password protected).
friday: breakfast at the original pancake house (sans food porn - we were hungry). then off to snoqualmie falls to see the gush of water coming down. hilary & ted came when it was unseasonably hot weather in seattle. all the snow and ice melting from the mountains were coming down hard via waterfall and rivers.
afterwards, we drove down to woodinville, wa to take the wine tour at the oldest winery in washington, chateau ste. michelle. we later had a small picnic on the grounds, near their little ponds --- ducks & ducklings included. jack and ted played frisbee while hilary & i chatted and finished off the bottle of their sauvignon blanc. afterwards, we headed to the red hook brewery where we had a little bday din for ted. his bday dessert was their blackhook porter float (with their new blackhook porter ice cream).
then, we drove back to downtown looking for the pyramid brewery but couldn't find it and just parked. we ended up taking ted & hilary to the famous peep show: the lusty lady. where we spent less than $5 peeping at nekked women. ted's imitation of the dances were better than the real thing. and he does it with his clothes on. he has, as hilary says, "hot molten lava skills!" (did i say that right?)
then all that naked made us really want more to drink, so we ended up in west seattle's california street's matador for more mojitos (but they weren't as good as cactus' mojitos).
ps: hilary & ted bought mad libs and we played "dirty" mad libs in the car. "jack and his horse" - if people want to make me pee in my pants, just say that. "jack and his horse."
saturday: breakfast at luna park cafe . then drive to wallace falls for a hike for a few hours. on the way back to the city, we stopped by old town monroe for a "snack." we ended up at a nice mexican restaurant where we shared huge plates of super nachos and taquitos. margaritas and cerveza were consumed too. then it was back to the apartment for a little rest before real dinner. we ended up having pho in tukwila, wa - at the phothai.
we thought we'd be having dessert at dilletante at capitol hill but alas, we were all stuffed and too tired so we called it a night.
sunday: it was a sad morning knowing that hilary & ted were going to the airport to fly back home. jack got lost in the airport again ---which is his coping skill for being sad and taking friends & family to the airport. after we dropped them off, he said this was the third time he did that. so we both decided i will drive peeps back to the airport and he picks them up. poor jackie. his heart was sad.
then jack and i drowned our sorrows in filipino menudo in kent, wa. then we went back home where it was so quiet and still once again.
thanks hilary & ted for everything and until our next get together.... we miss you guys already.
