While we were in Kent, WA having our dim sum, we realized we were in the "Great Wall Shopping Mall" - I was so excited there was a 99 Ranch Market in Seattle and only 15 minutes away. I know that there is the famous Uwajimaya but I grew up with shopping at 99 and more familiar with it and will be shopping there frequently now that I know it's there. Today I bought a breakfast dish in the Philippines called "taho" in Tagalog. I remember getting it from the street vendors in the P.I. when I was there.

Also in the mall was a Filipino bakery, complete with an pan de ube. which is a biscuit filled with ube. otherwise, the other night, jack and i had dinner at a really lovely filipino restaurant called manila grove at the mall too. we ordered kare-kare and lechon and jack always needs to have his lumpia shanghai. they made their own (none of that frozen kind). they also cook and serve the dishes in the clay pots. very traditional filipino cooking. I wish they were closer because THEY DELIVER! hee. Well I guess that's good for me though. Since the only time I really gorge on food is when I'm served Filipino food. heh.
