The office at OIS at the university gave me a two hour reception in my honor yesterday. It was the hugest cake I've ever seen. Half-chocolate; half-white.
I've had a couple of tough days this week. Saying goodbye really sucks. Yesterday was so bittersweet as people from the university started to trickle in for two hours - from the dean of the history department, a couple of the history professors, university librarians, university archivist, the custodians, the electricians, women's studies friends, colleagues,former students, friends ... - they started a book for me that i only received today. people wrote so many beautiful sentiments. i was telling them, if i was ever feeling awful about myself ---i'm going to take this book out and give my ego a little boost.
it's not hard to leave pittsburg the city --- but it's hard to leave people who have touched my heart, gave me opportunities, believed in me the way others never have...the way i never believed in myself.
today was a good day. today was a sad day.
